First Man
We’ve celebrated Mother’s Day, so what’s stopping us from celebrating Father’s Day? It’s that time of the year when we come to greet our fathers or father figures a ‘Happy Father’s Day’ and show them your appreciation for all their sacrifices and hard work. Just like Mother’s Day, it’s when we usually reflect on the times we spent with our fathers and acknowledge their hard work.
Father’s Day is celebrated in the 19th of July. On this day, we honor the men who have embraced the role of fatherhood. A father is like a daughter’s knight in shining armor or perhaps a son’s partner in crime. Just like their mothers, fathers are also their children’s best friend. There are so many roles a father has. He has to balance in time with work and spending time with their family, they work hard to provide for their family’s needs. The parents are a role model for their children to follow. A father usually shows their children how to be strong, brave and teach them how to take care and protect their family in simple ways.
Based from my observations, Mother’s Day is more celebrated than Father’s Day. There are just less events happening during Father’s Day. Both parents should be loved equally, like how they love their children. There shouldn’t be favorites, honestly. A simple greeting, card, cake or dinner would be fine. Just as long as we manage to show them how we appreciate them and their hard word.
In connection with the theme of this blog, we have recently discussed in our English subject about a poem entitled ‘Those Winter Sundays’ by Robert Hayden. It was about a childhood memory of when the child has been reflecting on his/her actions back when he/she was younger, when he/she never acknowledged and appreciated his/her father’s hard work and sacrifices. It was a wonderful poem that deliveries a great story and message within the words. With that said, I just want to thank my
dad for all his hard work, for going abroad as an OFW to provide for us. I am
sorry if I ever disrespected you and for the all the things I’ve done wrong. As
the first man in my life, you may not be the perfect father, but in my eyes,
you are the best in your own way. This also goes out to the other fathers out
there, whether they are father figures, grandfathers, uncles, single dads and
others. May all of you continue to live a blissful life, stay safe and God
bless!
To end this blog is a bible verse: “The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.” – Proverbs 20:7
