The Most Significant Treasures: Tradition and Culture
This festival is held from the last week of January to the first week of February. This enjoyable and important festival is a celebration of Ilocos Sur’s wonderful treasures: their traditions and cultures as well as the separation of the two Ilocos regions back in 1818. Many people from across Ilocos Sur, including tourists, come to visit the festival located at the Tamag grounds of Vigan City.
There are many events happening in this
festival, like contests for students to join in, which is a great way to
develop a student’s mind and for them to learn a lot more about the experience.
There are also performances done during the night and a fun carnival with fun
rides and games for both kids and adults to enjoy, since fun and joy is a very
important part of living, it’s best to have fun ones in a while. There is also
a trade and agricultural fair to promote their culture, tradition and products.
It’s also a great way for visitors from the city and from other parts of Ilocos
Sur or tourists to educate themselves about the traditions and culture of other
cities and communities. There are also food stands to promote their dishes, and
many merchants and vendors sell merchandise and furniture from where they come
from as well as beautiful plants. The festival is also significant for Ilocano
people to showcase their abilities and talents in art, there is an art gallery
near the entrance and they also hold a pageant.
To sum it all, the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival

promotes the wonderful, unique and special traditions, cultures, dishes,
talents and products of Ilocos Sur and celebrates the separation of the two
Ilocos regions. The festival is eventful, fun and educational and it helped
