A Spark of New Knowledge: The Third Quarter
Three out of four quarters, we’re almost nearing the end. These past eight weeks of modules and Google meets have been pretty tiring, frustrating, stressful and at the same time, it was also very interesting. It felt like this whole third quarter asked for more essays than before and I am not even going to say it was easy and fun because it was a load of work, but of course because of hard work and determination, I’ve also learned a lot this quarter, despite the challenges I had to go through.
ICT’s lessons this quarter was focused on community-based research. Believe me when I say I was not happy about this. Why? Because we have another Research subject! I am just glad that it’s not as complicated as Research II. Furthermore, I have learned many things this quarter, community-based research places community partnerships forefront, projects and studies are done to help promote and develop a community. I have discovered the different categories and components of community-based research. The making of the final output, which is our own community-based research was moderately fun because I was with my friends, but it was still frustrating to gather data for the study. Anyways, it’s also my first time encountering sitemap, which gives a visualization of the structure of a website. It’s actually a pretty interesting topic, considering I visit websites every day, I finally found out the purpose, elements, types of sitemap, as well as learning how to make one myself.
The challenges I had with this subject this third quarter is the community-based research itself. It’s difficult to gather data from the internet as well as from people through surveys, my friends who are my groupmates and I have struggled with making our final output because of the scheduling of an appointment for an interview with someone for our study. But we also enjoyed the new experience and each other’s company. There are also some instructions I do not understand. I am the type of person who wants to finish everything as soon as possible, so that’s why I sometimes ended up rampaging my room or just procrastinate. I’m honestly sick of making essays every week in most of our subjects. A lot of tasks keep piling up higher and higher, it’s really frustrating and tiring, even online classes bother me because I’m always afraid I would run out of time.
I surpassed these challenges I had this quarter by always studying hard and managing my time wisely. I sometimes learn how to take breaks and just have to deal with the tasks that are given to us and the online classes teachers carry out. Our ICT teacher is kind enough to address my queries and I am thankful for it. I can’t really escape these challenges because they would always be there from most of the subjects, and it would help me prepare for my senior years.
Moving on, I will continue on studying hard on the 4th quarter. I am slightly looking forward for what the last quarter awaits us. I am also hoping on have face-to-face classes with my teachers and classmates at school, so that lessons can be easier to understand and to have fun on the fourth quarter and the last school year of being a junior high school student. I am going to push myself towards my goals in life, because no one else is going to do it for me.
