Carry on the Joyful Spirits
Christmas is like any holiday of the year; it’s memorable, joyful and it’s a celebration. Something that makes Christmas extra special is that the 25th of December is the day when Jesus Christ was born. People rejoice in this holiday, they would sing Christmas songs, go caroling, decorate their houses with bright and colorful lights and other Christmas ornaments and spend time together with family and friends. How about you, what do you do in preparations for Christmas? As far as I know, even if we are in a pandemic, the people don’t lose their Christmas spirits and rejoice for birthday of Jesus Christ regardless of the deadly virus and its impact on our lives.
Christmas is
one of my favorite holidays, not just because of the gifts, money and food but
because I get to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with my family and
friends. My favorite Christmas song that many people know of is entitled “Christmas
in Our Hearts” by Jose Mari Chan.
“In
every prayer and every song
The community unites
Celebrating the
birth
Of our Saviour, Jesus Christ”
From
my understanding, it states that the people unite in celebrating the holiday,
the day when our savior, Jesus Christ was born.
This COVID 19 pandemic has been giving
us more problems for us to deal with. Even if many people in our country has
already been vaccinated, a lot of us really won’t have a perfect Christmas
amidst the pandemic. A Christmas were we go to parties, invite friends and
relatives over and have the whole family together. We cannot avoid the fact
that many has lost their lives because of the virus and various other reasons
like accidents or even the previous typhoon, so not everyone can be as happy.
For OFWs or Overseas Filipino Workers,
it is hard for them to celebrate Christmas away from their families, some
cannot get back to the Philippines, some have limited time only and some have
to be quarantined first and miss their chances to be with their families in
Christmas. I should be the one telling you, it’s hard and lonely for me that my
dad cannot also make it for the holidays. It’s not easy to accept the fact he’s
not coming home for Christmas because his vacations last for at least 5 months
only and he has to be working outside the country for more than 8 months or so.
But even if my dad can’t make it, my family would still celebrate and be joyful
regardless. We would have video calls and he promised us that he would make it
up when he gets home.
Celebrating Christmas amidst the COVID
19 pandemic is not as easy and fun as it was back then. But we just got to go
with it because the virus is still present, but I’m glad that a lot of people
are already vaccinated and the world can be turned upside down again. Even if
we are struggling, we are still fighting and we still find ways to make this
holiday special and celebrated. As long as we have the spirit of Christmas in
us, it would make you feel that everyone you love is celebrating with you. The
spirit of Christmas and the Lord Jesus Christ will always be stronger than the
virus.
Merry
Christmas everyone! I hope your holiday will go smoothly with peace, love and
joy!

ReplyDeleteHey there, Mari! I do feel the same way as you do, not really feeling the genuine happiness for Christmas in this situation we are in. Covid and pandemic were like massive hurricanes that came to mess up our normal lifestyle. Moving on, Christmas may not be as happy as it was before -- missing family members' presence during the holidays can be lonely, but never forget that the love that a family has, as well as God's, will always be more powerful than anything that would come in our way. Merry Christmas, Bestie 🤍
ReplyDeleteHi there! I appreciate the post on “Celebration of Christmas Season in its essence, amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic”; Even the situation is like this, celebration of Christmas is not a hindrance to show, celebrate, give love and happiness to one’s life.
ReplyDeleteWe already celebrated Christmas in the new normal way for two consecutive years. But being with your loved ones and celebrating the holiday season with them makes it more delightful. I do hope that this year, we'll be celebrating it again the traditional and usual way.
